References

We will use Distributed Systems by Tannenbaum and Van Steen as the textbook for this class. The second and the fourth editions of this book are (legally) available for PDF download from the authors web site. Since the textbook does not cover all of the class topics, we will make several additional readings available with specific lectures.

  1. Distributed Systems, 4th Edition, Maarten van Steen and Andrew Tannenbaum Please download your copy of the textbook from the author’s website here

  2. Distributed Systems: Principles and Paradigms, 2nd edition, Andrew Tannenbaum and Maarten van Steen, Prentice Hall, 2007. The second edition is also available as a free PDF from the author website here

  3. Distributed Systems Course Notes are here.

  4. Draft chapters from Distributed Systems: A Modern Approach, a textbook that I am in the process of writing are available on canvas. Note: this is a very early draft and feedback is welcome.
