Project Overview

The Quabbin project is based on our belief that, over the next few years, storage will increasingly become a ubiquitous service, much like email and the web. Users will be able to access their data from any location over the network at any time. While this is certainly possible today with protocols such as CIFS, webNFS and HTTP, many issues that remain unresolved. The Quabbin project will focus on the design of a storage server infrastructure that is required to turn this vision into a reality. In particular, the project seeks to investigate:
