The Broadway Project
Proxies for an Intelligent Web
UMass Computer Science
The goal of the Broadway Project is to develop web proxies that are user-cognizant (i.e., aware of user and application requirements), intelligent (i.e., have the ability to dynamically choose the most efficient set of mechanisms to service each application), and adaptive (i.e., have the ability to adapt a particular mechanism to changing network and workload characteristics).
We plan to focus on the following key issues:
Our research focuses on proxies that employ (i) the request-response and the push paradigms as well as (ii) unstrutured (html) and semi-structured (XML) data. To a lesser extent, we are also investigating some of the above issues for the mobile web environments.
Broadway is a joint project between the University of Massachusetts Amherst and the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay.
