Current research

I am working with my advisor Prashant Shenoy on automated modeling of complex data center applications. In addition, recent work has included collaborations with Deepak Ganesan on sensor network storage, with particular emphasis on scalable systems and networks of rich data sensors, as might be found in large-scale systems such as the CASA ERC.

Teaching

I am currently presenting the link layer lectures (Chapter 5) for CMPSCI 453, Computer Networking. Slides: odp (open office), ppt, pdf

In fall of 2006 I taught CMPSCI 577: Operating System Implementation with Prashant Shenoy.

In spring 2006 I presented lectures on the same material in CMPSCI 453. Slides for these lectures: pptpdf. (note - original slides are courtesy of Jim Kurose)

Software, notes, etc. (newer and/or timeless)

A patch to httperf to let it use a script with both URIs and interarrival times.

Setting up KGDB under VMWare - from CMPSCI 577

What Have We Learned? - an entertaining and informative flamefest on comp.os.research from early 1992, kicked off by Andrew Tannenbaum.

Older software and notes.

Notes on User-Mode Linux for kernel 2.6 - what options, boot disks, etc. actually work.  (as of January 04 - probably outdated)

Commented bibliography on P2P and other distributed filesystems, spatial databases, distributed database indices, and whatnot.

Scalable Distributed Database Structures - a small overview and bibliography on a topic somewhat related to my research.

A bibtex bibliography of many of the papers I've read or am trying to read.

My home system

A webcam focused on my cubicle, if you really want to see what it looks like. It's pretty messy, and the driver crashes pretty often.
